Teen Softball Player Dies Following Collapse

A teenage softball player who was fighting for her life after collapsing at a game has died, her team tweeted Wednesday night.

Dana Housley suffered a suspected brain aneurysm during the last inning of her travel softball team’s tournament in Fontana on Saturday, according to a GoFundMe page that was setup by one of her coaches to help her family cover medical expenses.

The team, as well as the GoFundMe page, stated that the girl had died Wednesday night.

"The Lord has a new Angel. #ripDana #danaisourangel #21 #21 Dana #PrayForDana," the California Thunder tweet said.

"Tonight our beautiful Dana chose to go with the Lord. We don't yet understand his plan for her, but she will make a perfect angel," the GoFundMe page said. "The tremendous national and international outpouring of love and support for our daughter and our family during this devastating ordeal is appreciated beyond words."

The online fundraiser had raised more than $56,000, more than twice its target of $25,000.

Housley attended Etiwanda High School.
