TEMECULA, Calif. -- A 49-year-old Temecula man was behind bars Saturday in Murrieta on suspicion of aggravated sexual assault of a child and lewd or lascivious acts with a victim under age 14, police and jail officials said.

Harry Emmanuel Vanderholst was arrested Friday evening in Temecula after an investigation of alleged crimes involving two victims between 2000 and 2008, according to Temecula police Sgt. Jim Adams.

The investigation began Nov. 21 after police received a report from Minnesota about incidents that occurred in Temecula, San Jacinto and unincorporated Homeland, according to Adams.

Vanderholst, 49, of Temecula remained locked up today at Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta, where he was held on $500,000 bail, a jail spokeswoman said. Vanderholst was also detained on an immigration hold, the jail spokeswoman said.
