Toddler Pulled From North Hollywood Swimming Pool Dies

A toddler who was pulled not breathing from a swimming pool at a home in North Hollywood on Sunday has died,  officials said.

The incident happened in the 5900 block of Craner Avenue, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

First responders said they found the child not breathing. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was in grave condition before dying.

The child had been reported missing, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

“It’s so sad because they are a very nice family,” said neighbor Neetha Bodeju.

Police said a safety gate around the pool appeared to be slightly in disrepair.

“The pool was a little cloudy, so I think that delayed locating the child,” said LAPD Lt. Brian Morrison.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said drowning is the most common cause of accidental death for children ages 4 and younger. Most of the drownings occur in home swimming pools.
