A driver suffered minor injuries when a commuter train plowed into his car at an Orange County rail station and slowly pushed it down the tracks before passengers helped the man out of the vehicle.
Witnesses told Orange police the man drove around the rail crossing gate's arms at Palm Avenue and was struck by the Metrolink train. The driver's Chevrolet Malibu was wrapped around the front of the train, which traveled at a low rate of speed as it approached the Orange Station and pushed the car down the tracks.
Passengers waiting to board the train helped the man from the crumpled car, according to witnesses.
The road and southbound rail line were closed as crews cleared the debris. Another Metrolink train was used to transport passengers from the station.
No injuries were reported among the 230 train passengers.
