Two Children Go Missing Near Middle School

Police along with their families held a news conference Sunday afternoon asking for help to find them.

Two children went missing near a middle school in Southern California Saturday afternoon, prompting police to ask for the public's help to find them.

Ashley Montes, 12, and Timothy Jacob Reed, 14, were last seen on May 2 at 4 p.m. near Mark Twain Middle School in Los Angeles getting at a bus stop, according to a Los Angeles Police Department news release.

A friend told police that they were waiting for the 33 bus that was en route to Venice.

"We're hoping they just didn't want to come home right now for whatever reason," Officer Mike Lopez said, from the Los Angeles Police Department.

Ashley and Jacob went swimming together earlier in the day, a friend told police. Both children had cell phones that were not being answered, Lopez said.

Ashley is described as Hispanic, with black hair and brown eyes. She is 4-feet-8-inches tall and weighs approximately 80 pounds.

Timothy is described as Hispanic, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call 310-482-6334.
