Two Custodians Help Nab Trio of Alleged Burglars

An alleged getaway car was found at a Chevron gas station next to the building.

Irvine police are crediting a pair of custodians for leading them to a trio of suspects who allegedly stole laptops from an insurance company.

At about 11 p.m. on June 2, two custodians working in a business complex at Corporate Park Plaza spotted a man allegedly stealing a computer. Police said they watched the alleged burglar leave the building and later described to them what he was wearing.

When authorities arrived at the location they found Michael Fairfax, 26, hiding in bushes, police said. A computer was also found nearby.

An alleged getaway car was found at a Chevron gas station next to the building with Rachel Fiore, 26, and Patrick Sanders, 51, inside.

"In that vehicle we found a lot of documents containing personal information from other people such as credit card numbers." Officer Farrah Emmami said, with the Irvine Police Department. 'We believe those cards may have been used for fraudulent online purchases."

Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was also found, according to police.

Fiore has a background in medical billing, Sanders may have worked as a financial planner and Farifax worked for a charity golf company, officials said.

Authorities were grateful for the custodians who were smart enough to remember all the details of what they saw and repeat it back to them.
