Crime scene investigators spent the day Tuesday searching for clues about what led to the deaths of two people at a home in a quiet North Hills neighborhood.
Neighbor Joanna Davila and her mother-in-law heard at least three gunshots just before 9 a.m.
"She said she heard one shot and walked out to check what it was and heard screaming," Davila said. "And then heard two shots and came back in."
An older couple live at the home with their adult son in the 15000 block of Rayen Street. Investigators say an elderly woman was found dead in the bathroom and the body of a young man was discovered outside in the front yard.
The older man who lives at the home was taken in for questioning and is being called a "person of interest."
Investigators were trying to determine whether the shootings were the result of a domestic dispute.
"There has been some issues in regard to domestic stuff," said LAPD Detective Steve Castro. "We're trying to sort through that. It's new so we're trying to piece it all together."

Police recovered a shotgun at the scene. They're trying to determine whether that was the murder weapon.
Neighbors say they often heard arguing at the home, but never expected to hear gunfire.
"We have heard a few things happen here but not like this," Davila said.
