Two Dead in Separate Police Shootings

Two men were killed after separate confrontations with El Sereno and San Bernardino police

Two men are dead after separate officer involved shootings Saturday.

Police in El Sereno responded to a call about a man with a gun around 12:45 p.m. in the 4800 block of Axtell Street, according to Hollenbeck police.

A 32-year-old man with a handgun confronted the officers. When he refused to put down his weapon, the man was shot and killed.

The El Sereno incident was Saturday's second deadly officer involved shooting.

Earlier today, police shot and killed a man in San Bernardino.

The suspect, described only as a Hispanic man in his eary 30s by San Bernardino police, was walking over a freeway overpass when police stopped him.

It was unclear why police stopped the man, who ran from the officers while firing rounds at their vehicle, according to Gwendolyn Waters with San Bernardino police.

The officers fired back, striking the suspect several times before he was taken to Loma Linda Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:20 a.m.

A homicide investigation is underway in the area near the southbound off-ramp to Interstate 215 at Fifth Street, according to California Highway Patrol officials and San Bernardino Police.
