Two Men Die in Separate Fatal Crashes Sunday

In one of the crashes, four cars were involved in a chain-reaction.

Two men died Sunday in separate fatal accidents in Los Angeles County, City News Service reported.

In one case, a motorist died when his stalled Toyota Corolla was slammed by an oncoming Toyota Sequoia at about 3:30 a.m. in Boyle Heights. The Corolla caught fire, and bystanders were not able to help the driver get out of his car.

The man, a 30-year-old from Norwalk whose name has not yet been released, died in the fire.

In the other incident, a 23-year-old La Verne man driving a 2010 Nissan Versa died in a four vehicle chain-reaction collision on the Pomona Freeway (S.R. 60) in the City of Industry.

The Nissan driver slammed into a pickup truck that lost control while trying to avoid hitting yet another car. That collision took place at about 1:40 a.m. Sunday, police said.
