Man Set on Fire During Argument Dies From Injuries

A man died from his injuries Friday morning after another man doused him with gasoline and set him afire inside a car in the carport of a North Hollywood apartment building, authorities said.

Two men were injured, one critically, in the vehicle fire in the Valley Glen section of North Hollywood.

The fire was reported at 7:05 p.m. in the detached carport of a two- story apartment building at 6606 Woodman Ave., between Victory Boulevard and Vanowen Street, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The victim and the suspect had gotten into an argument that turned physical and the suspect doused the victim with gasoline and lit him on fire, according to Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

Both the critically injured man and the suspect, who was in serious condition, were taken to a hospital for treatment of their burn injuries. The victim died from his injuries, LAPD said.

The suspect was in police custody.

It's unclear why the men were fighting.
