An 18-year-old man who was killed in a shooting in Monrovia that also left a male juvenile in critical condition was identified Sunday by the coroner's office.
The shooting occurred at 11:36 p.m. Saturday on the 100 block of West Cypress Avenue, according to Monrovia police.
Officers responding to a shots fired call found both victims with gunshot wounds to the torso.
Oscar Garcia died at the scene and the juvenile was transported to a hospital.
The teens were inside a garage in the 100th block of West Cypress Street when a young man knocked on the door, exchanged a few words with the teens and fired several shots. A teenage girl was also shot in the garage was not hurt.
The victim's uncle said Garcia was not involved in any gangs or criminal activity and believes he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“He was a smart kid a happy kid, friendly and helped everyone. He’s going to be missed,” he said.

LA County Sheriff's Department Homicide investigators say the victims have no criminal ties and the gunman may have been looking for someone else.
The assistant principal said he visited the injured student at the hospital Monday and said the boy is sedated, but appears to be improving and communicating with his family.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remained under investigation by Monrovia police and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputies.
