USC Athletic Director Pat Haden Has Medical Episode on Campus

USC Athletic Director Pat Haden was treated by medical staff Wednesday morning after feeling light-headed while walking on campus, a medical episode the university described as similar to when he collapsed at a football game last season.

Haden, who had just attended a Wednesday morning meeting, took a seat outside Heritage Hall, where he was tended to by the athletic department's medical staff.

"Haden was alert and talking as he walked under his own power up to his office in Heritage Hall," before being taken to see his doctor, the school said in a blog post.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said it received a call about 10:44 a.m. of a person down and unconscious at the campus, but it was unclear if that patient was Haden.

Haden has lingering health issues, most notably his recent collapse on the football field in South Bend before USC faced off against Notre Dame last October.

Just last week, USC president Max Nikias announced that Haden was planning to retire as athletic director, effective at the end of June 2016.

Haden was hired as the school's athletic director in 2010.
