More Than $6 Million in Lotto Winnings Unclaimed

Prizes worth more than $6 Million

Lottery ticket buyers might want to look over Friday's numbers one more time, and then look over them again.

Three days after the winning numbers were announced, prizes totaling more than $6.5 million remain unclaimed.

Twenty-nine people nailed five of six Mega Millions numbers last Friday, each winning about $227,000, but as of 3 p.m. Monday, only three people had come forward to claim their prizes, according to the California State Lottery.

Some people take their time in claiming their winnings, said Alex Traverso, California Lotto spokesman.

"You see people that come in first thing, and then you see people who are surprisingly practical," Traverso said to the Los Angeles Times. "They come in on their lunch break. You'd think if you win $227,000, you could take a day off."

The winning numbers were 2-4-23-38-46 and 23 was the Mega number. Three winners -- none from California -- split the $640 million jackpot.

Prize winners have 180 days to claim their money.

Californians bought more than $300 million worth of lotto tickets in the days prior to Friday's drawing.

Thirteen stores sold winning tickets in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
