Unhealthful Air Quality Hits SoCal

Air quality was projected to be unhealthy for sensitive individuals in the Pomona area and Santa Clarita Valley on Monday, prompting county health officials to issue a health warning for people with certain medical conditions.

Los Angeles County's interim health officer, Dr. Jeffrey Gunzenhauser, advised people living or working in the Pomona area and Santa Clarita Valley with heart disease, asthma or other respiratory diseases to minimize outdoor activities.

Schools with children who have sensitive conditions, including heart disease, asthma and other chronic respiratory diseases, should not participate in outdoor physical activity and should stay indoors as much as possible, he said.
