Vehicle Crashes Off Road in Topanga Canyon, Sparking Brush Fire

A vehicle plunged over the side of a road in Topanga Canyon Saturday morning, sparking a small brush fire, fire officials said.

The crash was reported at about 10 a.m., Los Angeles Fire Department officials said. Firefighters on the ground and in a helicopter searched but found no sign of anyone connected to the vehicle.

The car crashed one mile north of Pacific Coast Highway on Topanga Canyon Boulevard, according to a tweet from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Topanga Canyon Boulevard was closed in both directions for hours at the location of the crash, sheriff's deputies said. The fire was quickly contained.
