Group Mourning LAPD Shooting Victim Gathers in Venice

A handful of activists, Venice residents and friends of a man killed in a police shooting Tuesday gathered four days later in the beachside neighborhood Saturday.

They gathered in the area where 29-year-old Brendon Glenn was shot by officers with the Los Angeles Police Department in a confrontation Chief Charlie Beck has called concerning.

The vigil called for an end to police brutality after a string of fatalities involving police, including Glenn's, Michael Brown's in Ferguson, Missouri, Freddie Gray's in Baltimore and more.

Glenn was shot after police received a disturbing-the-peace call near Windward and Pacific avenues. At least one witness said Glenn was complying with officers when he was shot.

Beck said at a press conference Wednesday that the shooting left him feeling "very concerned," and activists held other rallies on a "Day of Action" in Venice Thursday.
