Ventura Man Accused of Killing Cat With Bow and Arrow

The suspect said he had "tracked" the cat but did not intend to actually shoot and kill it, police said.

Oxnard police arrested a man for allegedly killing a cat with a bow and arrow on Friday.

Officers were called to the 1000 block of Yarnell Place to investigate a report of animal cruelty that occurred on Monday.

Surveillance footage showed two men with a hunting bow in an alley among two commercial buildings. Officers identified 37-year-old Eric Danielson of Ventura as one of the two men in the video, police said.

Danielson allegedly admitted that he had shot and killed the cat. He said that he had “tracked” the cat but did not intend to actually shoot and kill it, police said.

According to police, the video shows Danielson with the bow and appears to release an arrow. The men then walk out of the frame, but then reappear with Danielson holding a dead cat that he throws away into a nearby dumpster.

Danielson was arrested and was bailed out on a $10,000 bond.
