A group of people Monday finished a 40-mile march from Pomona to Riverside to raise awareness about veterans and suicide.
Veterans, active-duty servicemen and their families arrived at the Riverside National Cemetery at 22495 Van Buren Boulevard this morning after departing Pomona at around 9 p.m. Sunday.
Each member carried a backpack weighing 22 pounds to symbolize the 22 veterans who commit suicide every day due to mental disorders.
Each walker carried a flag and a photo of a veteran who committed suicide, the organization said.
Funds raised by the event were to go toward Christmas Eve gift boxes to children of service members who have committed suicide.
