Victim in Critical Condition After Shooting in Silver Lake

The victim was rushed to County USC Medical Center.

A driver was in critical condition after being shot in the head in Silver Lake and police suspect road rage may have played a part.

The shooting at Silver Lake Boulevard and West Scott Place was reported at 5:08 a.m., said Los Angeles police Lt. Rick Stabile of the Northeast station.

The victim and two co-workers had just left work in a black pick-up truck and were driving south on Silver Lake Boulevard.

The suspect, along with a female passenger, pulled alongside and began shouting at the victim, according to police.

Shortly after, the suspect pulled out a weapon, leaned across the passenger, and fired. The victim was struck in the head and crashed into a parked Mercedes-Benz, according to Lt. Steve Flores.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics rushed the victim, who was only identified as a 25-year-old male, to LA County USC Medical Center in critical condition. The other two passengers were not injured.

The shooter was described as a Hispanic male driving an imported 4-door sedan.
It was unclear what prompted the confrontation but police said the victim had passed the suspect shortly before.

Police did not believe the shooting was gang related.
