Video Sparks Use of Force Probe After Cops Use Batons While Responding to Street Fight

The lawmen used the weapons to protect a victim during the brawl, police say

A use of force investigation has been launched after police officers were filmed using batons while responding to an alleged street fight in Long Beach.

The lawmen used the weapons to protect a victim during the brawl on the 200 block of Pine Avenue at around 2 a.m. Sunday, a Long Beach Police Department spokesman said.

According to the LBPD, the officers saw two men fighting in the street, and attempted to break it up before friends of the main aggressor got involved. The source that provided the video footage claims the people were only arguing, rather than fighting.

Three men and a woman ended up being arrested for public intoxication, battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and failing to disperse.

Police also claimed no one had come forward with the cellphone footage of the brawl, and have asked anyone with information to come forward.
