Vigil Held for Father of Six Gunned Down in Ontario

Police still searching for suspected shooter.

Family and friends gathered Thursday night to remember a father who was fatally shot while driving with two of his children in Ontario.

A vigil was held near the area where 40-year-old Angel Antonio Hernandez was shot and killed by an unknown assailant.

Tina Hernandez, the victim's mother grieved over the loss of her son, which has left six children, including a 1-year-old girl, without a father.

"Somebody did something horrible and bad and took him away from us," Hernandez said.

Nearby surveillance camera showed a car pull up to a Toyota sedan being driven by Hernandez near G Street and Vineyard Avenue. The Toyota could be seen crashing into a truck in front of it shortly after the suspected vehicle drove away.

Hernandez was shot while his baby daughter 4-year-old son were in the car, police said.

Neither of the children were injured in the shooting.

"My grandson is four, he says, 'Nana my daddy died. They shot my daddy,'" Hernandez said.

Police were searching for a motive in the killing, but did not believe the shooting was gang related.

Investigators said they are hoping someone who was at the intersection during the time of the shooting may have seen exactly where the suspected gunman went.
