Virtual Real Estate: See a New Home Without Leaving Home

Want to feel like you're in a new home without leaving the comfort of your current one? No problem.

Los Angeles-based virtual reality company Really There has designed 3-D interactive tours of select homes by having potential home buyers put on a pair of goggles. They've partnered with Sotheby's International Realty to bring a closer look into their $6.9 million beachfront home in Venice.

"You can seamlessly walk through a house as if you were really there," CEO Andrew Broeren said.

Broeren said the technology they develop allows agents to share inside and outside views of the homes their selling. He says the camera uses infrared scanners to measure and map out the entire house.

This allows agents to cater to clients hundreds of miles away from the actual listing and provide accurate measurements for designers.

"Virtual reality is the next step in state of the art technology," said Sotheby agent Gregory Bega. "So if someone in another country wants to see a home, we can do that."

Broeren also mentioned that he hopes to further the technology. The company wants to add interactive tools to help home buyers design their potential home's by virtually swapping furniture and other home fixtures of their choosing.
