Car Gets Stuck in Sinkhole Created By Water Main Break In Torrance

"It's a first time for everything," Jason Como said about his car getting stuck in a sink hole, created by an overnight water main break in Torrance.

The water main break was reported just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday, near the intersection of Crenshaw and Artesia Boulevard, Torrance Fire Department officials say.

Officials stated that the sinkhole formed on the southbound side of Crenshaw Blvd. just south of Artesia Blvd.

"We were trying to drive home, back to Long beach... as we turned the corner we saw that there was a puddle, we treated it like a flood and slowed down and the next thing we know, our car sunk into the ground," Jason Como said.

The two occupants of the car were able to safely get out, uninjured, with the help of Torrance FD Firefighters onscene.

Torrance Municipal Water Department was requested on scene to repair the water main break, Torrance Fire Department officials said.

It is unknown how many customers were affected at this time.

Southbound lanes of Crenshaw Blvd. was closed until further notice.
