Water Main Break, Sinkhole Prompt Closure of Hollywood Streets

A water main break caused significant flooding and a sinkhole early Thursday in a Hollywood neighborhood, causing nearby streets to shut down until further notice.

The water main broke at approximately 2:11 a.m. near Seward Avenue and Romaine Street. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power arrived at the scene shortly before 3 a.m.

The flooding caused a massive sink hole in the neighborhood and the LADWP set up a perimeter around it to prevent drivers and pedestrians from falling in.

The cause of the break is under investigation.
