A five-acre brush fire burned and was contained in Ventura County Thursday, fire officials said.
More than 130 firefighters were at the scene of the fire near Westlake Village, according to tweets from the Ventura County Fire Department.
Mandatory evacuations were not put in place in the area, according to Ventura County Sheriff Capt. Mark Franke.
The fire had burned across 3.2 acres, the Ventura County Fire Department tweeted, down from an initial estimate of 5 acres. It was contained at 1:08 p.m.
Firefighters from Cal Fire and the Ventura County Fire Department were working to protect structures, Ventura County Fire spokesman Capt. Mike Lindberry tweeted.
"We're making good progress with it but I assume we'll be out here for some time yet," Lindberry said in an interview with NBC4 at about 12:30 p.m.
