Wire Damage Forces Gold Line Closure, Major Delays Expected

The damage caused a southbound Gold Line train to get stuck in South Pasadena

Major delays are expected after damaged overhead wires forced the temporary closure of the Metro Gold Line in South Pasadena Thursday.

It will not be operating until around 12 p.m. while repairs are carried out at the intersection of Monterey Road and Pasadena Avenue a Metro spokesman said.

The damage occurred at around 10 p.m. Wednesday, and caused a southbound Gold Line train to get stuck in South Pasadena. Passengers aboard the train were safely evacuated and repair has been going on through the night.

There will be no services throughout the between Fillmore Station in Pasadena and Southwest Museum Station due to the damages, with buses replace the train service in that segment

The train service between Sierra Madre Villa Station and Fillmore Station in Pasadena will also be more infrequent than usual, with trains running every 15 to 20 minutes.

While trains will be run between Southwest Museum, Union Station and East Los Angeles, minor delays are expected.

Passengers are recommended to allow for extra travel, or to make other commute arrangements.

Customers boarding at Lake Station to DTLA can use Metro Express 485, those boarding at Sierra Madre Villa Station to DTLA can use the Metro Express 487. Commuters at Southwest Museum or Highland Park, consider using Metro Local 81 instead on nearby Figueroa.
