Woman Dragged From Doughnut Shop “Alive and Well”: Police

The driver of a vehicle she exited threw her to the floor in the doughnut shop before leaving with her in the SUV

A woman who was dragged out of a doughnut shop before leaving the parking lot with her attacker in a vehicle told police she was "alive and well" and that she "knows the suspect," police said.

The woman, between 20 and 30 years old, was seen Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 at a doughnut shop in Highland Park, said the Los Angeles Police Department. The woman was identified Monday morning, according to police, who planned to release more details after speaking with her.

In the early morning, the woman exited a gray sport utility vehicle and ordered coffee at the shop, located in the 5600 block of York Boulevard. The woman used her phone and remained in the shop for about 15 to 20 minutes, police said.

When she left the shop, the gray SUV that she exited earlier pulled alongside her and stopped, police said. She ran back to the doughnut shop, but the driver followed. He threw her to the ground and dragged the victim outside, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

"She tried to hang on to one of the tables bolted to the floor," LAPD officer Joe Rios said.

After a short argument, she entered the SUV's passenger side and left with the man, police said. Police who arrived at the shop when the attack was reported were unable to locate the man or the woman, officers said.

LAPD Detective Joe Rios said the woman later called police and confirmed that she was the person seen in the footage.

The delay in publicizing the case was caused by problems accessing the security camera footage, police said. Anyone with information regarding the case should call detectives at 323-344-5731.
