Woman Injured in Carjacking, Police Chase Stolen Car and Stun Suspect: Officials

Officers found a stolen Honda that had just been carjacked from a 55-year-old woman in downtown Pomona, police said.

A driver being pursued by police crashed a stolen car into other vehicles, then was shot with a stun gun after carjacking a woman in Pomona Friday, police said.

The incident began at 1:45 p.m. in downtown Pomona, when a carjacker pulled a 55-year-old woman out of her Honda.

The man initially pulled over when Pomona police spotted the Honda, but then sped away, prompting the chase, police said.

Officers were joined by an Ontario police helicopter as the chase made its way into La Verne.

"The pursuit traveled through the residential area of La Verne, then south the area of B Street and Bonita Avenue in La Verne, where the suspect crashed into other vehicles," police said.

The suspect allegedly resisted officers attempts to take him into custody and was zapped with a Taser before he was arrested and taken to a hospital for examination before booking, police said.

Firefighters treated three people at the scene. One of them suffered chest trauma and was airlifted to hospital, according to Pomona police.
