Woman Remains Hospitalized After Felony Hit-and-Run Crash; Driver Sought

Santa Monica police asked for the public's help Thursday to identify a driver involved in a felony hit-and-run crash that has left a woman hospitalized with serious injuries.

After receiving several calls around 5:46 p.m. Tuesday that a car struck a pedestrian in the 1300 block of Second Street, police officers responded and found a woman in the crosswalk who was unresponsive with "significant head trauma," Santa Monica police said in a statement.

The woman was treated at the scene and was taken to a hospital. She remained hospitalized Thursday, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

Police said the driver drove away after striking the woman, and was last seen driving southbound on Ocean Avenue toward Colorado Avenue, according to a preliminary investigation of the crash.

The driver may have been driving a silver 2000-2006 Nissan Sentra. The four-door car may have damage to the front right side "from the bumper to the hood and windshield," Santa Monica Police said in a statement.

The investigation of the crash was ongoing Thursday. Anyone with information, or who was in the area of the crash when it happened, was asked to call Investigator Jason Olson at 310-458-8954 or the Santa Monica Police Department at 310-458-8491.
