5-Year-Old Girl Found Safe in Mexico Following Abduction

A 5-year-old girl was found unharmed with her grandparents in Mexico Sunday after she was reportedly abducted by her grandmother in Victorville on Friday. Authorities were working with the 5-year-old's mother to reunite them.

Detectives searched for Luz Maria Garza-Ramones, 51, who was suspected of abducting her granddaughter in Victorville over the weekend.

Aleysha Martinez-Ruiz, 5, was last seen by her mother at 15251 Seneca Road in Victorville around 3 p.m. Friday. She was with her grandmother Garza-Ramones who was visiting from Mexico.

"It is believed Luz Maria is trying to take Aleysha back to Monterrey to be with the rest of the family," Victorville police said in a statement.

Detectives will forward the abduction case to the San Bernardino District Attorney's Child Abduction Unit for review.
