Woman Struck, Killed by Car in Front of OC High School: Police

A woman was killed by a car in front of an Irvine high school Wednesday morning, an Irvine police spokeswoman said.

The woman, who has not been identified, was struck by a Kia at 11:05 a.m. while she stood on the corner of Bryan Avenue and Rubicon near the main entrance of Beckman High School, according to Farrah Emami, spokeswoman for the Irvine Police Department.

She died instantly, Emami said. She hasn't been identified.

The car ended up on school property, beyond a fence, Emami said. The driver of the car, a 27-year-old man, was ejected from the vehicle and is in critical condition.

No one involved is a student, according to Emami.

Only one person was taken to the hospital, said a spokesman with the Orange County Fire Authority.
