A woman and a child were killed early Wednesday day on the Hollywood (101) Freeway in a crash that also left a teenager seriously hurt.
The accident occurred around 1 a.m. on the southbound Hollywood Freeway in Hollywood, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The car appeared to have flipped over the guardrail on the right shoulder of the freeway, plunging onto the Sunset Boulevard onramp, according to reports received by the CHP.
A woman in her 40s and a boy believed to have been between 6 and 8 were declared dead at the scene, CHP Officer Alex Gonzalez said. Their names were withheld pending notification of next of kin.
A third victim, believed to be a teenage girl, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
The onramp was to remain shut down during an investigation, Gonzalez said.
