Would-Be Pot Shop Robbers Caught in the Act

Two men were arrested after police surrounded a Studio City medical marijuana dispensary after the owner reported two men were ransacking the business.

The owner and two employees of a Studio City medical marijuana shop huddled in a bathroom Tuesday evening after two men broke in and ransacked the store before police circled the store and caught the would-be robbers in the act.

Late Tuesday evening, the owner of Perennial Holistic Wellness Center, a medical marijuana dispensary, noticed on surveillance video that two men were trying to break in through the back door of the business. He called 911 and barricaded himself and the employees in the restroom.

The suspects allegedly ransacked the store, opening cash drawers and cabinets.

Police surrounded the store in the 11700 block of Ventura Boulevard, near Colfax Avenue, while a police helicopter circled overhead, said Sgt. Dan Fournier of LAPD’s North Hollywood Division.

Officers smashed through the glass door and the suspects surrendered.

The two suspects, who have not yet been identified, reportedly attempted to steal large amounts of marijuana and cash from the shop.

The owners and two employees were freed from their hiding place unharmed.
