Victims in Deadly Wrong-Way Crash Identified

The driver was traveling 100 mph while heading east on the westbound side of the Pomona Freeway

All six victims in the deadly wrong-way crash on a Southern California freeway over the weekend have been identified.

Kristin Young, 21, of Chino; Maya Culbreath 24, of Rialto, who is the driver's sister; Gregorio Mejia-Martinez, 47; Leticia Ibarra, 42; Jessica Mejia, 20; and Esther Delgado, all from Huntington Park, as the deceased, Coroner’s office Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.

Delgado’s age is not yet known.

The six died when a car came barrelling down the Pomona (60) Freeway in Diamond Bar traveling the wrong direction and crashed head-on into two other cars.

Olivia Carolee Culbreath, 21, was arrested on suspicion of felony drunken driving and felony manslaughter following the crash early Sunday morning, CHP officials said. She is in serious condition with a fractured femur and ruptured bladder.

Culbreath is accused of driving a red Chevrolet Camaro head-on into a Ford Explorer at more than 100 mph. She was heading east on the westbound side of the freeway.

After the initial impact a Ford Freestyle hit the Explorer. The driver of the Freestyle, Joel Cortez, survived the crash and was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center after complaining of pain.

According to Winter, the coroner’s office could not confirm which victims were in which vehicle.

The collision closed the westbound 60 Freeway for hours to allow officials to investigate.
