Deputies Refute YouTube Star's Claim of Assault in West Hollywood

A YouTube star known for his prominence in the gay community said he was assaulted by three men after leaving a nightclub Monday morning, but deputies said Tuesday the man caused the injuries himself in a jail cell.

Calum McSwiggan took to Instagram Monday to say he was treated like a "second-class citizen" by authorities after he claimed he was assaulted by three men, who left him with broken teeth and six stitches.

Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department West Hollywood station refuted the claims Tuesday in a statement, saying he caused the injuries himself following an arrest.

Deputies responded to a report made by McSwiggan of an assault in the 8900 block of Santa Monica Boulevard. They said they weren’t able to substantiate McSwiggan’s claims as they saw no injuries.

Deputies then say they saw him vandalize a car, and arrested him.

McSwiggan was booked and photographed, and in his mug shot, no wounds similar to those in the Instagram post can be seen.
