Zach ‘Bat Boy' Davies Dominates Dodgers as Brewers Even Series at Ravine

Orlando Arcia hit a two-run home run and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 3-0, in a bullpen game at Dodger Stadium on Saturday night.

There's something brewing.

Orlando "El Niño" Arcia hit a two-run home run and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 3-0, in a bullpen game at Dodger Stadium on Saturday night.

Los Angeles entered the game with four starting pitchers on the disabled list in Clayton Kershaw, Yu Darvish, Alex Wood, and Brandon McCarthy, so relief pitcher Ross "Chicken Strip" Stripling made a spot start on Saturday.

It was Stripling's first start of the season as the right-hander had not thrown more than three innings all year, and that's exactly what he did for the Dodgers, throwing three scoreless innings to start the game before leaving in the fourth inning for reliever Edward Paredes.

"He pitched really well," said Dodgers' manager Dave Roberts. "He was good and did everything we expected from him."

Six different pitchers took the mound for the Boys in Blue, but it was right-hander Josh "El Cuervo" Ravin who faired the worst, allowing a two-run homer to Arcia in the top of the fifth inning.

Arcia was all over a 97 MPH first-pitch fastball from Ravin that just travelled over the wall in CF to put Milwaukee on the board.

Meanwhile, Zach "Bat Boy" Davies was brilliant for the Brewers, throwing seven innings of shutout baseball.

"It is good to come in here after a tough loss yesterday and switch the roles and give them a tough loss," Davies said after the game. "Guys of all sizes and talents can play this game. It doesn't matter who you are as long as you have a passion for the game and a skillset that you continue to perfect."

Davies (15-7), posted a nearly identical line against the Dodgers as he did back on June 4 in Milwaukee, allowing just three hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.

In June, Davies also allowed three hits with one walk and six strikeouts in six inning as the Brewers shutout the Dodgers by the same score.

"Against us he's throwing the ball really well," added Roberts. "He's got good stuff and knows what he's doing. Obviously, against a club like us he brings his best stuff."

Neil "Walkie" Walker who was acquired from the New York Mets at the July 31 trade deadline, knocked in an insurance run with an RBI double in the top of the eighth inning.

Corey "Bird Dog" Knebel worked the ninth for his 28th save of the season.

Despite the loss, the Dodgers have won three-of-five from the Brewers this season and a win on Sunday would seal the season series.

Los Angeles is 31-5 in their last 36 games at Dodger Stadium and still hold the best home record in all of baseball at 52-15.

Up Next:

The Dodgers will need to win on Sunday to keep the undefeated series streak alive at 24. Yu Darvish will be activated off the disabled list and start opposite RHP Jimmy Nelson at 1:10PM PST.
