Car Plows Into Ladera Ranch Home, Prompts Evacs After Gas Leak

A car that plowed through the garage wall of a Ladera Ranch condominium Wednesday struck gas meters and prompted the evacuations of nearly a dozen homes, officials said.

The crash happened when two cars collided near Narrow Canyon and Aura streets Wednesday morning, Orange County fire officials said.

One of the drivers lost control and crashed through the wall a home's garage, officials said.

The car struck at least six gas meters, causing a natural gas leak and an explosion hazard, officials said.

Fire crews evacuated 10 homes, and nearly 200 students and teachers at a nearby preschool were told to stay inside.

The female driver of a black Hyundai had minor injuries and taken to the hospital. One woman in the home at the time of the crash was not hurt, officials said.

Additional details about the crash were not immediately clear.
