Nearby residents were evacuated after a shooting victim died Tuesday amid a SWAT standoff in Chino Hills, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.
The suspect was barricaded in the home after the report of a shooting in the 4300 block of Val Verde Avenue at 2:30 p.m.
He was taken into custody without incident by 6:45 p.m., deputies said.
Nearby residents were told to evacuate, deputies said at 5 p.m.
The neighborhood was deemed safe shortly after the armed suspect was taken into custody.
