Thief Steals Cal State San Bernardino's Cadee the Coyote Mascot Costume

When Cal State San Bernardino student Hayley Glass performs as her school's mascot Cadee the Coyote, she gets to be someone different from the "shy, reserved" person she said she usually is.

"I get to be outgoing in this costume," said Glass, 18, who is a member of the university's cheerleading team.

But the Cadee the Coyote costume, which costs $4,000, was stolen from the trunk of Glass' car Oct. 20 in Redlands, and it's been missing ever since.

"I'm not really mad that (the thieves) took it," Glass said. "I just want it back. It means a lot to me."

The day before it was stolen, Glass put the costume, which was concealed inside a black bag, in the trunk of her car.

When she figured out her car was broken into the next day, she discovered that the costume was the only thing missing.

Cal State San Bernardino spokesman Joe Gutierrez said he has "no idea" why someone would want to steal the costume.

"We hope someone realizes that this is important to us and our students," Gutierrez said. "And we want it back."
