Two suspects, including a 17-year-old boy wanted by Denver police on suspicion of homicide, were in custody Tuesday for allegedly beating 73-year-old Torrance woman during a home invasion robbery.
An alert neighbor noticed suspicious activity outside the home in the 3600 block of Sara Drive and called police at 10:40 p.m. Monday, according to Torrance police Lt. Steve Danjou.
When officers arrived, the two men fled the home, Danjou said. A 18-year-old suspect was arrested immediately and the 17-year-old suspect was found in the attic of the woman's garage.
No weapons were recovered at the scene.
Officers found 73-year-old Judy Turner, who was struck several times by the robbers. She was treated at the hospital and released, speaking to NBC4 later Tuesday with a badly bruised face.
"It's awful to think you can't be safe in your own home," she said.
Torrance police discovered both men were wanted in Colorado. The 17-year-old suspect had an outstanding murder warrant, and the 18-year-old suspect had a robbery warrant issued for his arrest.

Denver police identified the 17-year-old as Dmarco Blake, one of four people now in custody. Police believe they are part of a burglary ring.
The men were being booked on suspicion of home invasion robbery, burglary, elder abuse and theft of the car from Colorado, he said.
