Girl Escapes Would-Be Kidnapper at Elementary School in North Hollywood

The girl thwarted his kidnapping attempt when she bit him and screamed for help, police say

A quick-thinking 10-year-old girl fended off a possible kidnapper on Wednesday by biting him, screaming and running for help, police said.

The incident happened about 5:30 p.m. at Coldwater Canyon Elementary School near Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Vanowen Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. A man may have been trying to kidnap the girl, officials said.

Woman Charged With Murder in Nightclub Beating Death

The girl was walking near some bathrooms when the man put his hand around her mouth, police said.

The girl, who was at the campus for an after-school program, was not harmed.

Police described the man as having curly gray hair, wearing brown shoes with no laces.
