Flying into the spot of the world's most "social" airport is LAX, according to a list compiled by Facebook.
On Tuesday, the social networking site named LAX the "Most Social Airport in the World," meaning more people check-in there than any other airport in the world.
"We're excited to receive this recognition and are committed to ensuring these sites remain relevant and valuable to our travelers and fans," said Gina Marie Lindsey, Los Angeles World Airports Executive Director, in a statement.
Travelers share their location via check-in applications on Facebook and other third-party services.
The airport data was collected between August 2010 and November 2011.
Additionally, Facebook reported a spike in social-media sharing during the holiday travel periods.
Dec. 18, 2010, saw a 20-fold spike in check-ins, according to Facebook. Increases were also prevalent on Dec. 23 and 24, as well as Dec. 29 to 31.
With the holiday season traveling up the runway, it looks like the LAX passengers will soon be checking in once again.
