Mother ‘Wants Justice' After Father of 2-Year-Old Arrested in Deadly Rollover Crash

Investigators later said that none of the children in the car were wearing seat belts.

The last time Latina Arellano saw her 2-year-old daughter was at the hospital.

"The last time I get to see her is to tell my baby goodbye and I will never be the same," Arellano said.

The mother of the 2-year-old was devastated Monday after her investigators said her daughter was killed in a rollover wreck in Hesperia with the child's father behind the wheel.

Investigators said on Saturday, David Zuniga was driving with his four kids in the car near the 7500 block of Arrowhead Lake Road at 11:15 a.m. when he tried to pass a slower moving car and somehow lost control.

The car rolled, and 2-year-old Aaliyah was ejected from the Nissan Maxima, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department. The car was also occupied by Zuniga's three other children, ages 8, 5, and 6 months old, and they all suffered minor injuries.

David Zuniga was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and child endangerment.

While the family grieves, David's father said he wants strangers to stop writing vicious things about the man on social media.

"He loves his kids a lot. It's very sad what happened," David Zuniga Sr. said. "Everybody makes mistakes."

David's father said he had been with his son all morning Saturday as they fished with the children before the horrible crash.

He said he never saw David take a single drink of alcohol or anything else that day.

"There was nothing done in front of us. The kids were having a good time," his father said. "Aaliyah was catching fish and chasing squirrels and the next minute we were walking her to the helicopter and watching her fly away."

David's family said the world is convicting him on social media.

"The family is already going through a lot. We don't need to hear all that other stuff," Terri Zuniga, David's stepmother, said.

Arellano, however, wants to know the truth about what caused the crash, and said if her ex-boyfriend and father of Aaliyah is guilty of any crimes, she wants him to pay the price.

"I have rage," Arellano said. "And I just don't think it's fair and I want justice."

Investigators said it appeared that none of the children were wearing seat belts in Saturday's crash.
