Officer Attacked in Exposition Park

A California Department of Public Safety officer was attacked with a handgun by two men in Exposition Park near USC Wednesday, July 2, 2014, officials said.

A California Department of Public Safety officer was attacked with a handgun by two men in Exposition Park near USC Wednesday night, officials said.

The assault happened near the park's Rose Garden around 10 p.m., Los Angeles Police Officer Nuria Vinegas told City News Service.

The two men who attacked the officer fled the scene and were still being sought by police as of 11 p.m.

Additional details were not immediately clear.
