Two men were arrested Sunday in connection with a shooting near Los Angeles Valley College that left one man dead the night before.
Officials received a call about 7:30 p.m. Saturday of a person with gunshot wounds in a parking lot in the 5800 block of Fulton Avenue in Valley Glen, near Valley College, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Alvarez said.
The gunshot victim, Ricardo Zetino, 31, of Tujunga, was found in a truck in the Valley College parking lot, according to the LA Sheriff's Department.
Zetino died in the hospital just after 11 p.m., officials said.
Two men from San Jacinto were arrested Sunday in connection with the shooting, sheriff's officials said Sunday night.
The shooting was the result of a "drug deal rip-off," and the choice of the college parking lot was random, LASD Homicide detectives said in a news release.
Raheen Taylor, 31, and Derrick Wilson, 25, were being held without bail, officials said. Neither the victim nor the two suspects are affiliated with the college.
On Saturday night, a deputy responding to the shooting was struck in his vehicle by a female driver, officials said. The woman was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence.
Authorities said the deputy was taken to a hospital with minor and moderate injuries.
Valley Glen is a neighborhood just west of North Hollywood in the San Fernando Valley.
