Series of Shootings in Valley Area Leaves One Dead, Two Wounded

Police were on tactical alert after a man was killed in a series of shootings in the Valley on Wednesday evening.

The first shooting occurred around 7:20 p.m. at the 14600 block of West Plummer Street at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard.

A man was found in grave condition in a white pickup truck, and later died, according to the LAPD.

The second shooting occurred at 7:22 p.m. about a mile and a half away in the 15600 block of West Nordhoff Street.

Two people were transported to the hospital, and one person was in serious condition, police said. 

Police said it was unclear if there was a link between the three shooting victims, but believed there is some type of connection because the shooters went from each scene within a short period.

Police were on heightened alert following the shootings.

The alert was canceled around 10 p.m., but police were still searching for the shooter.
