3 Men With Knives Attack Fairfax Restaurant Customers

"They started throwing knives at me and my friend, they started knocking over lanterns, throwing glass at each other, freaking out."

What started as a normal brunch in Los Angeles' Fairfax district ended in knives and shattered glass Sunday after three men started attacking restaurant staff and customers.

The attack started around 3 p.m. at an Italian restaurant called Spartina, witnesses told NBC4.

"They started throwing knives at me and my friend, they started knocking over lanterns, throwing glass at each other, freaking out," customer Ashley Guarrasi said.

The fight did not end there, however. After a few minutes, the men moved on to another nearby restaurant on Melrose Avenue called Vinoteque.

Ryan Hess, the owner of Vinoteque, said the men grabbed knives from his restaurant and were throwing things at each other.

After several calls to 911, police and firefighters found the attackers down the street.

They cuffed one of the men to a wheelchair and carried another into the back of a squad car.
