USC Rooftop Sex Photos Lead to Investigation

The photos, posted online Saturday, appear to show two people having sex atop the 12-story building

Photos that appear to show two people having sex on the roof of Waite Phillips Hall led to the suspension of a USC fraternity member and an investigation by the school's student affairs department.

Denzil Suite, the school's associate vice president for student affairs, said Tuesday afternoon that school officials are investigating whether the act violated university policies regarding access to building rooftops.

"There is an alarm system in place for roof access, which is how we were first notified of the intrusion," Suite told the LA Times. "We will be following up. However, the university does not publicly discuss issues of campus discipline because of prevailing privacy laws and concerns."

The photos were posted online Saturday night.

In a statement, the president of USC's Kappa Sigma confirmed that one of the subjects in the photos is a member of the fraternity. Kappa Sigma's Zach Timm told the Daily Trojan that the member was suspended.

"The member in question has been suspended from Kappa Sigma for conduct unbecoming of a Kappa Sigma and a gentleman until a more detailed investigation can be conducted," Timm said in an e-mail to the campus newspaper.

Fraternity leaders said they also plan to investigate.
