Spreading Calif. Wildfires Destroy 100 Homes

At least 100 homes were destroyed late Monday as one of almost a dozen California wildfires overtook a small town while another rapidly doubled in size to more than 8,000 acres, NBC News reported. The 350-acre Boles Fire broke out on Monday afternoon near the town of Weed in Siskiyou County and was 15 percent contained at 11 p.m. local time (2 a.m. Tuesday ET). Fanned by 40 mph winds, it forced the evacuation of at least 1,500 people. Meanwhile, the 8,600-acre King Fire east of Sacramento was being tackled by more than 1,500 firefighters.
