WATCH: Ariz. Cop Runs Down Suspect With Cruiser

An Arizona police department released a video Tuesday that shows a patrol car plowing into an armed suspect who police said had been on a day-long crime spree. Marana police say Mario Valencia allegedly robbed a 7-Eleven, started a fire at a church, broke into a home and stole a car. The 36-year-old then drove to Walmart, where he allegedly swiped a rifle and ammunition. In the dashboard camera video, a gunshot is heard as Valencia is seen walking down the street before Officer Michael Rapiejko slams a police cruiser into him, sending the man flying into the air. Valencia's attorney, Michelle Metzger, called the unconventional tactic "shocking," and "clearly excessive police force." Valencia survived the crash, and prosecutors cleared the officer of any wrongdoing.
